Most students read two career guides: one for getting started and one for their chosen track.

Before you start
What does a good tech career plan look like for a fresher?
A good plan is short, specific and tied to proof. It names one target role, the three or four skills that role needs and one project that shows each skill. It also has dates, so you can tell whether you are on track.
Most students do not need a five-year plan. They need a clear next six months: which track to learn, which internship to aim for and which soft skills to practise. Our career guides are built around that shorter horizon, because it is the one you can actually act on.
Review your plan every month. Replace anything that is not moving you closer to the target role. If you are unsure which role to target, try two tracks for a weekend each and keep the one you want to continue.
- One target role, written down
- Three or four skills that role needs
- One project per skill, with a deadline
- A monthly review of progress
How to use them
How to get the most from these career guides
Reading alone rarely changes anything. We recommend this simple routine to turn our career guides into progress.
- 1Step 1
Read the direct answer first
Every guide opens with a short answer. Read it, then decide which sections you need in detail.
- 2Step 2
Pick one action for this week
Choose a single step, such as building your first project or rewriting your resume, and put it in your calendar.
- 3Step 3
Use the checklist honestly
Each guide has a checklist. Tick only what you can prove with real work. The unticked items are your plan.
- 4Step 4
Get feedback from someone
Show your project, resume or practice interview to a senior, faculty member or mentor. Feedback speeds everything up.
- 5Finish
Take the next structured step
When you are ready, join an internship or program where a mentor reviews your work every week.

Who writes them
Why trust career guides from Icanio Tech School?
Our career guides are written by the Icanio Tech School Academic Team, drawing on the practising engineers who mentor our interns. Icanio Tech School is the education arm of Icanio Technologies, a Tamil Nadu based AI company trusted by 100+ businesses and headquartered in Tirunelveli.
We have trained 2,000+ students and 1,000+ have been placed. That experience shows up in these career guides as specific advice: which projects impress reviewers, which mistakes slow freshers down and what interviewers actually ask.
We keep the guides practical and honest. They do not promise shortcuts. They give you a clear order of work, and they point to our internships only where a mentor would genuinely help.
- Written from real mentoring and code review experience
- Answer-first, so you get the key point in seconds
- Updated as tools and hiring expectations change
- Free to read, with no sign-up required

From reading to doing
How our internships put the career guides into practice
The career guides show you the path. Our internships let you walk it with a mentor. We run 15 internship tracks, from frontend and AI and ML to HR and finance, with durations from 15 days to six months.
Every intern gets 1:1 mentorship from a practising Icanio engineer, works in structured phases and builds a real project reviewed to internal Icanio standards. You finish with a certificate and a portfolio, and top performers are referred to the Icanio talent team.
You can join offline, online, part time or hybrid, in weekday or weekend batches, so it fits around college.

For colleges
How colleges and placement cells can use these career guides
Placement officers and faculty can share our career guides with students before internship season. The checklists work well as classroom activities: students tick what they can prove, then plan the gaps with a mentor or faculty guide.
Colleges that want deeper support can partner with Icanio Tech School through an MoU. Partners get priority access to workshops, value added courses, guest lectures, faculty development programs and sponsored internships. More than 30 colleges across Tamil Nadu already work with us this way.
Many colleges pair the soft skills guide with our Student Development Program, and the roadmap guides with value added courses in the same technology.

- You have finished at least one small project on your own
- You have a one-page resume that leads with that project
- You can explain your project clearly in two minutes
- You want weekly feedback from someone who does this work for clients
- You can commit 15 days to six months, offline, online or part time

Frequently Asked Questions
Who are these career guides for?
Our career guides are written for college students, recent graduates and career switchers who want to enter tech. They suit both engineering and non-engineering students. Each guide assumes no prior work experience and explains every step in plain language.
Are the career guides free to read?
Yes. All our career guides are free, with no sign-up needed. If you want a mentor to guide you through the steps, you can apply for an internship or the Student Development Program, and our counsellors will call you.
Which career guide should I read first?
If you have not done an internship yet, start with how to get an internship as a fresher. If you already have offers, read how to choose an internship. If you know your field, go straight to the frontend roadmap or the AI ML career path.
Who writes the Icanio career guides?
The Icanio Tech School Academic Team writes them, drawing on the practising Icanio engineers who mentor our interns and review their work. The advice comes from real mentoring, code reviews and interview preparation with students.
Do the guides cover non-technical careers?
The guides on getting and choosing an internship and on soft skills apply to every track, including HR, finance, sales, digital marketing and data analysis. The two roadmap guides focus on frontend development and AI and ML.
Do I need to read all five career guides?
No. Read the one that matches your situation today, act on it and come back when your situation changes. Most students read two: one on getting or choosing an internship and one on their chosen track. The soft skills guide is useful for everyone before interviews.
How often are the career guides updated?
We review our career guides as tools and hiring expectations change, and each page shows its last updated date. When a tool or common practice shifts, we update the relevant roadmap and checklist.
Can a college share these guides with students?
Yes. Placement officers and faculty are welcome to share the links with students. Colleges that want structured training can also partner with us through an MoU for workshops, value added courses and internships.
What should I do after reading a guide?
Pick one action from the guide and do it this week, such as starting a project or fixing your resume. When you want structured feedback, apply for an internship and work with a mentor who reviews your progress each week.
